This week I want to focus on a Dell Computer ad. While I am not a fan of Dell products, I am a fan of their commercials. This spot features a great track by Malajube, a four piece out of Montreal, Canada. Check out the spot below…
The track used is Malajube’s “Montreal -40°C.” The instrumental version is used in the spot due to the fact that the actual vocals are in French. I love how poppy the song is, and how it works perfectly with the visuals. Ever since Apple started taking over the music world with their ads, many other manufactures have been trying to compete with cool, hip music. This is a perfect of example of Dell doing a great job of finding a the right track.
“Montreal -40°C” comes off Malajube’s 2006 album, Trompe-l’oeil. I loved the album. A lot. Not only did I buy that album, I bought the bands recently released fourth full length, La caverne. Malajube is definitely a band I would love to see live, but seeing as they’re only playing a few dates in Montreal and surrounding cities, it’s looking like I’ll have to wait for some time for their next trip to the states. Bummer.
