I have wanted to write about this track – this album – since I first got an advance copy (humblebrag, sorry) just before I caught the band at SXSW this past year.  At the time the only song off Blood Pressures that bloggers were allowed to disseminate was “DNA.”  The full album was released on April 5, 2011.  How the heck did it become September already?

Anyway, Blood Pressures was actually my first introduction to The Kills.  Pretty embarrassing since it’s their fourth album.  I got to know Alison Mosshart in The Dead Weather first, and remember hearing that it was rad she was in that band because of her work in another.  When I learned that “other” band was The Kills, everything came together.  Man, it’s incredible how two people can make so much noise!  What I love about this album is how hard every songs rocks, while still having a solid chorus to grasp onto.  When deciding which track to feature I was torn between “Nail In My Coffin” and “Heart Is A Beating Drum,” they both make you want to get up and air guitar like it’s your job, but for some reason the former brings to mind images of both an 80’s concert and a heavily choreographed Beyonce video.  I can’t really describe why that is, but I know I am really into hearing both in a sassy rock track with gritty electric guitar riffs.  Alison Mosshart rules.
